Stockbridge Duck Race 2018

Posted on May 29, 2018 by Stockbridge

Started 29 years ago the annual Stockbridge Duck Race has become the biggest community event in Stockbridge and one of the most recognised in Edinburgh. Thanks to the generosity of duck buyers and the business community the race has raised thousands of pounds for charity over the years. The chosen charities for 2018 are The Yard and St. Columba’s Hospice.

The Yard runs adventure play services for disabled children, young people and their families. They offer disabled children and their siblings the chance to experience creative, adventurous indoor and outdoor play in a well-supported environment. St Columba’s Hospice strives to ensure everyone within our community has access to excellent palliative care whoever they are, wherever they are and whenever they need it.

This years Stockbridge Duck Race will be held on Sunday 1 July 2018 at 3pm. The 2018 little yellow plastic bath ducks will be launched from The Stockbridge and race down the Water of Leith to the Falshaw Bridge, the Duck Wardens will be on duty making sure all ducks reach their final destination safely, shouting out and recording those winning numbers.

Businesses are donating lots of prizes again this year so the odds of winning anything from a meal for two at a local restaurant or a visit to the hairdressers are pretty good. If you would like to donate a prize please contact stevimanning@yahoo.co.uk
