On Friday, the 27th of October, Graystone Gallery unveiled its new location on Hamilton Place, in the Edinburgh neighbourhood of Stockbridge. Their inaugural exhibition, titled ‘The Colour & The Shape,’ brings together the creative expressions of four talented artists, offering unique perspectives on the natural world and the built environment that surrounds us. This captivating exploration of light, form, and line showcases the artistic works of Hetty Haxworth, Connie Liebschner, Richard Marsden, and Bronwen Sleigh.
Previously situated in Leith, the gallery has steadily earned recognition as one of Edinburgh’s most exciting new fine art destinations since its establishment.
Lesley Briggs, the Gallery Director, expressed her excitement, stating, “We are thrilled to announce the opening of our new gallery in Edinburgh’s Stockbridge, a hub of independent business, art and culture. The contemporary gallery space at Graystone will be home to a carefully curated selection of art that will inspire our customers, and we look forward to welcoming some fantastic artists through our rolling programme of artist talks and exhibitions”.
Art serves as a means to comprehend the world around us, and these artists employ their observations to provide fresh perspectives. Hetty Haxworth’s works transform the landscape into a geometric study, capturing moments of light and colour as they play over the scenery.
Connie Liebschner delves into the creation of immersive spaces through the use of line, form, and colour, adding depth to her artwork.
Richard Marsden draws inspiration from architecture, admiring the forms of buildings under construction and appreciating the underlying structure and dynamics before they are concealed by the rest of the building.
Bronwen Sleigh shares Richard’s passion for architecture and challenges our perceptions of neglected urban spaces and environments on the city’s periphery.
