Hidden Bothy Designs have opened an exciting pop-up shop for one week (7th-13th June), showcasing their range of furniture handcrafted with locally sourced materials, all designed and made here in Edinburgh. Set up by outdoor enthusiast duo Alice and Duncan, their designs are inspired by the Scottish landscape and feature ranges such as the Pentland Collection and the Torridon Collection. Scottish oak and ash used in the products are sourced from a not-for-profit timber yard in Fife, with luxurious fabrics from the Isle of Bute.
The shop features Hidden Bothy’s popular collection of stools and cushions, alongside a special limited edition lounge chair, coffee table and hall storage bench. The designs are inspired by mid-century and Scandinavian styles, with a strong connection to Scotland through the natural materials used. All pieces are made to order and can be customised to fit customers’ size requirements or choice of fabric.
The team behind Hidden Bothy Designs started the business earlier this year and are now residents at the Edinburgh Open Workshop in Leith. They run the business alongside existing jobs and jumped at the opportunity this summer to take on Space at Seventeen, a private hire shopfront on St Stephen Street in Stockbridge which is regularly taken over by new, exciting small businesses.
The pop-up shop is also selling handmade cushions, rugs by Edinburgh, New Town artist Kristina Taylor and Scottish books and journals including Hidden Scotland and Proper Adventure.
Alice and Duncan can be commissioned to take on custom design projects and will work with clients to design and make a special piece of furniture or collaborate on larger interior design projects.
The shop is open at 17 St Stephen Street from 10am to 7pm from Monday 7th June to Saturday 12th June, and from 10am to 4pm on Sunday 13th June. You can visit the Hidden Bothy website at hiddenbothydesigns.co.uk
