Residents of Edinburgh are invited to walk for Team LifeCare at this year’s Kiltwalk on Sunday, 15th September. LifeCare, a charity based in Stockbridge, has been providing care and support for older people across the city for over 80 years. Thanks to the dedicated services offered by LifeCare, many older individuals are able to live well in their own homes, stay connected to their communities, and enjoy a variety of positive activities. Additionally, LifeCare operates a bustling hub on Cheyne Street, where community members gather for various events and activities.
However, none of LifeCare’s services are fully funded, making fundraising efforts crucial for the continuation of their support. This year, the organisation is calling on the community to participate in the Kiltwalk to raise essential funds.
Registration fees for the Kiltwalk are currently at an all-time low, presenting an excellent opportunity for individuals to sign up and support LifeCare. The event offers something for everyone, with three different walking distances to choose from:
The Wee Wander (5 miles): This shorter walk is perfect for families. Parents whose children attend classes at LifeCare can get the kids together to participate in the walk and raise money for the local community hub.
The Big Stroll (11 miles): For those looking for a more substantial challenge, this medium-distance walk provides an excellent opportunity to push oneself while supporting a good cause.
The Mighty Stride (21 miles): For those who have always wanted to complete a marathon but prefer walking over running, this long-distance walk is an ideal choice. At just shy of a full marathon, it is sure to test participants’ endurance and determination.
All participants who sign up to support LifeCare will receive a t-shirt to wear on the day of the event. Additionally, those who manage to raise £250 or more by 30th August will receive a special LifeCare tote bag as a token of appreciation.
