Kirsty Mackellar is a professional Remedial Massage Therapist and Reflexologist in Edinburgh with the aim to help others on their journey of wellbeing. Treatments are personalised for each individual and focus on achieving pain-free movement in general life and for specific goals. Having completed a range of courses with the renowned establishment, Jing School of Advanced Massage, Kirsty’s approach is a fusion of Eastern and Western techniques that means they are both clinically efficient and relaxing. Symptoms and conditions treated include but are not limited to: pain of the back, knee, neck and shoulder, RSI, headaches, stress, hormonal imbalances, fatigue, and basic rehabilitation.

 

Kirsty is extremely passionate about helping others and has a background in care work as well as a degree in BSc Psychology. If you would like to find out more and figure out the appropriate treatment for you, a free 30 minute consultation is available.

 

Below is an outline of the standard treatments available, however Kirsty is accommodating to specific needs and preferences. For example head and shoulders only or combinations of treatments.

 

Remedial Massage

 

This treatment is suitable for specific pains, injuries and conditions. It will include specific work using a range of techniques such as Trigger Point Therapy, Deep Tissue, Myofascial Release, Muscle Energy Techniques, basic table Thai stretching and suggested self care exercises.

 

Relaxation Massage

 

A deeply relaxing, holistic massage for those that want to come and switch off from the world outside the treatment room. The above techniques may be included but it will be more of a flow and the treatment can be highly effective for both stress and pain relief.

 

Pregnancy Massage

 

A nurturing treatment suitable during pregnancy that is carried out in the side-lying position with consideration for the changes in the body during and after pregnancy. The style is much more gentle than a typical massage so soothe and promote wellbeing for the mother and baby.

 

TMJ disorder therapy

 

Temporomandibular joint (jaw) dysfunction can cause a range or symptoms such as headaches, jaw pain, teeth grinding, dizziness, tinnitus and other dysfunction in this area. The jaw has also been linked to the alignment and function of the pelvis.

 

Reflexology

 

Reflexology is a non-invasive touch therapy that is mainly carried out on the feet but the hands and head may be treated too. More and more research is highlighting the importance of healthy feet and not only is this great for treating stress and hormonal imbalances, but also for musculoskeletal health.

 

Hot Stones Therapy

 

A full-body massage with Hot Stones- bliss! This treatment is great for deep relaxation and easing tense muscles. Hot and cold stones may be incorporated for specific muscles during a Remedial Massage.
