The number of independent businesses that are part of Love from Indie Street has increased by 50% since launch in November 2014 and it is now a thriving community of 60 businesses from across the city.
Love from Indie Street makes it easy for people to buy gift cards for independent businesses online and is the only model of its kind in the UK. From bookshops to florists, restaurants to fashion boutiques, they offer gift cards for a diverse range of gifts and experience that showcase the best of Edinburgh.
Stockbridge based founder Rebecca Christensen says ‘I am so excited by the reaction of the many brilliant independent business owners who have decided to get involved with Love from Indie Street. By offering consumers an easy alternative to big brand gift cards not only are we meeting the growing demand for people to be able to shop for gifts online but at the same time we are driving that money towards independent businesses and encouraging footfall across our amazing city of Edinburgh.’
The latest business to join Love from Indie Street is ‘Life Story’ which is owned by Susan Doherty (also owner of Hula Juice Bar): ‘‘I’m ‘Independent Edinburgh’ to the core, and I took over the business of Life Story around the same time as Love From Indie Street launched so it was only a matter of time before we collaborated! I’m so excited to be part of the thriving indie community that is Broughton Street, and now the online indie Edinburgh community on the website – I truly believe there is a real synergy in this concept.”
Other businesses to have joined since launch include; Jeffreys Interiors, Cuckoo’s Bakery, Totty Rocks, Daisy Cheynes, Jeffrey Street Whisky & Tobacco and The Pantry. To further enhance their offering Love from Indie Street is also about to launch a new staff reward scheme which will enable Edinburgh organisations to reward staff, clients or candidates in a creative and engaging way whilst also supporting the local economy. Members of staff who receive the ‘Indie Reward Card’ will be able to use the card in any of the 60 independent businesses that are part of the Love from Indie Street community.
