Wednesday 14th February at 7.30pm will see Opera Caledonia present “Viva l’amore (long live love)” – an evening of romantic operatic classics set in the glorious surroundings of the Institut français d’Écosse, just a short bus journey from their usual home of St. Vincent’s Chapel.
What better way to celebrate Valentine’s Day than an evening of beautiful music, complemented by fine wine and chocolates, performed by international soprano Judith Howarth and pianist Derek Clark, Scottish Opera’s celebrated former Head of Music.
Together they will present a glorious evening of operatic classics and song featuring the music of Puccini, Verdi, Gounod and Mozart amongst others, set in the stunning surroundings of the Institut français d’Écosse.
Judith Howarth first came to public attention when she joined the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden aged twenty one. She has since performed across the world at opera houses including Deutsche Oper and English National Opera under conductors including Claudio Abbado and Sir Colin Davies.
Derek Clark began his career at Welsh National Opera, making his professional conducting debut in 1981. During his time as Head of Music at Scottish Opera, he conducted more than 30 works for the company and is highly regarded across Britain as a conductor, pianist and vocal coach.
The evening will be complemented by fine wine and chocolates, all included in the ticket price and guaranteeing an evening of unashamed indulgence. Valvona & Crolla are delighted to provide the wine for “Viva l’amore” in support of Opera Caledonia.
