In 2008, Sheila Fleet proudly inaugurated her first independent boutique beyond the boundaries of Orkney. The chosen locale was St Stephen Street, nestled in the Edinburgh neighbourhood of Stockbridge. The City of Edinburgh held profound significance for Sheila, having pursued her studies at Edinburgh College of Art during the 1960s, later garnering an Honorary Degree in 2014. Notably, her meticulously crafted jewellery is hallmarked in the city, therefore, fitting that her initial gallery outside Orkney found its home in Scotland’s capital.
The St Stephen Street boutique, conveniently located mere minutes from the city centre, offers a tranquil respite from the bustling crowds of Princes Street. A leisurely stroll through Edinburgh’s historic New Town leads to the charming neighbourhood of Stockbridge, replete with vintage shops, art galleries, and inviting eateries.
Within the boutique, visitors are treated to a calm ambiance while perusing Sheila’s jewellery and captivating ring collections. A warm reception awaits, with the friendly team offering personalised assistance. Guests are encouraged to request ring measurements for tailor-made pieces. Sheila Fleet holds the distinction of being one of only two jewellers globally authorised to create and vend Scottish Gold from the Cononish Gold Mine, Scotland’s sole commercial gold mine. This opulent metal undergoes meticulous casting and finishing in the Orkney workshop, complete with a unique serial number, presented in a luxury box with a certificate of authenticity.
