Stockbridge Duck Race 2016. Got Your Duck ?

Started by local woman Susie Gregor 27 years ago the annual Stockbridge Duck Race has become the biggest community event in Stockbridge and one of the most recognised in Edinburgh. Thanks to the generosity of duck buyers and the business community the race has raised thousands of pounds for charity. The chosen charities for 2016 are LifeCare and St. Columba’s Hospice.

LifeCare (Edinburgh) is a local charity providing services to support the well-being and independence of older people in the community and St Columba’s Hospice strives to ensure everyone within our community has access to excellent palliative care whoever they are, wherever they are and whenever they need it.

This years Stockbridge Duck Race is on Sunday 3rd July 2016 at 3pm. The 2016 little yellow plastic bath ducks will be launched from Stockbridge and race to Falshaw Bridge, the Duck Wardens will be on duty making sure they all reach their destination safely and shouting out those winning numbers.

Businesses are donating lots of prizes again this year well over 100 were donated last year so the odds of winning anything from a meal for two at a local restaurant or a visit to the hairdressers are pretty good. If you would like to donate a prize please contact stevimanning@yahoo.co.uk
