Stockbridge Duck Race 2015

Posted on May 20, 2015 by rlcm

This year’s fabulous Stockbridge Duck Race will be taking place on Sunday 28th June 2015 at 3pm – It’s 26th year! The race was established in the 90’s by local resident Susie Gregor and has continued ever since. It is now one of the longest running community events in Edinburgh and has raised thousands for charity. This year the money collected will be donated to Lifecare and St Columba’s Hospice.

All the ducks are numbered and released into the Water of Leith from The Stockbridge under the clock tower on Deanhaugh  Street at 3pm, then caught by ‘Duck Wardens’ further downstream at the Falshaw Bridge. The first lucky ducks to cross the line are noted and the owners are awarded one of the many prizes so generously donated by businesses from across the city of Edinburgh.

A great fun day out for all the family with the added benefit of raising money for charity. The sponsor for this year’s race is Jamieson Landscape Gardening and The Antiquary will be hosting the Après Duck Party and Kids Disco after the race … which is great fun.
