So when artist Sally-Ann Johns got in touch to tell us about her Art Classes for Children held at her Beaverhall Art Studio we thought it was definitely ‘Worth The Walk’.

Sally-Ann is a professional artist who exhibits her work internationally and has many years of experience working with children of all ages. All of her classes are held in her art studio in a creative, relaxed and supportive environment. The course Sally-Ann is offering will focus on learning new skills through fun and will help to develop a child’s knowledge in all aspects of drawing, such as line and shading, perspective, composition and figurative work. The children will be encouraged to draw from their imagination, use sketch books and different materials, such as pastels, charcoal, paint and clay. They will also learn to talk about their work and gain an understanding about different artists and art history. The price of the course includes all materials, a snack and a drink, so there is no need to bring anything to class.

At present, Sally-Ann has two classes on a Friday afternoon, from 2 till 3.30pm and from 4 till 5.30pm. The new term begins on Friday 27th of October. These classes are for 8 years and upwards. Coming soon – a new class starting for older children, on Wednesday’s from 4 till 5.30pm and a new pre-school art session.
The courses run with the school term dates. This term is 9 weeks long and the cost is £108. A drop-in session is also available at £13, but please check for availability. Class sizes are limited so that Sally-Ann can offer support and attention to all students. Therefore, early booking is advisable.

Sally-Ann also offers one to one sessions, portfolio preparation classes and holiday courses. The longer holiday classes are a great opportunity to get more involved with larger or more complicated projects and to practice new skills.
