To celebrate Infant Massage Awareness Week (18 – 24 September), From Acorn to Oak With Love are delighted to announce the launch of International Association of Infant Massage (IAIM) classes each Monday morning beginning the week of October 16 at LifeCare Centre, 2 Cheyne Street, Stockbridge.
Owner Lesley Gould trained to become a Certified Infant Massage Instructor (CIMI) with the IAIM after witnessing the benefits massage brought to her elder daughter who has additional needs. Lesley loved the training so much she decided to start teaching it!

The IAIM was founded by Vimala McClure, author of the book ‘Infant Massage – A Handbook for Loving Parents’. After witnessing babies being massaged whilst working in an orphanage in India in the 1970s, she had the vision that all babies in the world should experience the benefits of nurturing touch. The IAIM is now a global organisation represented in over 45 countries. It is the world-class standard for the teaching and training of baby massage.
There are many benefits of infant massage which include benefits for parents, the entire family and society in general.
Benefits for babies fall under the four main headings of Interaction, Stimulation, Relaxation and Relief. Baby can feel more loved, valued, respected and bonded to their primary caregiver. They can have increased body awareness, experience better sleep and relaxation and gain relief from wind, colic and constipation.
Parents benefit by learning a skill they can use to nurture their babies in a supportive, relaxing environment where they can meet other new parents and spend quality time with their babies.
Lesley runs blocks of 90 minute classes over 5 weeks for all babies aged 6 weeks to 1 year in Dean 2 Room at the LifeCare Centre on a Monday morning from 10.00am – 11.30am. The next block of 5 week classes will start at LifeCare Centre on Monday 16 October. The sessions are warm and welcoming and include tea, coffee, home-baking and healthy options too! Lesley also runs small group sessions for parents and children aged 1-7 years who have additional needs.
