Winter Garden is the inspiring theme for Christmas at the Botanics this year. A host of events, including visits from Santa and carol singing, are certain to get visitors in the festive mood. Parents and children are invited to come and meet Santa when he visits the Garden. He will be based in the John Hope Gateway but if the weather is nice he may take a stroll in the Garden. He will be greeting children and posing for ‘Santa Selfies’. Santa will be at the Garden on Sat 12, 13, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24 December. He will be meeting children from 10.30am to 12.30pm and 1.30pm to 3.30pm. Entry is free.
A programme of free seasonal Sunday events and carol singing at Inverleith House has been organised in the run up to Christmas. Christmas Crafts inspired by nature will take place on 13 December and on 20 December visitors will be able to discover where our favourite festive spices come from and have a go at some spicy activities. The free Sunday drop-in sessions will be held from 1pm to 3.30pm. Carol singing will start at 3pm.
The Botanics Shop is filled with new and exciting ranges that reflect the Winter Garden theme including exquisite glass tree decorations and festive wreaths. There are new ranges of luxury gift items including toiletries, jewellery and accessories. There are books for avid readers and gardening equipment for the green-fingered. A year’s Membership of RBGE can also be purchased as a Christmas gift for garden lovers.
Lunch or afternoon tea at the Gateway Restaurant will also be getting a festive flavour as chefs use their culinary skills to create mouth-watering dishes from local produce.
The Botanics is also running a #BotanicsBaby competition for the best picture of young ones enjoying meeting Santa or their time in the Garden. For more information visit donate.rbge.org.uk/botanicsbaby
