Stagecoach Edinburgh North is delighted to provide classes each Thursday evening in Stockbridge, at The Edinburgh Academy on Henderson Row, for children aged from 4 years old all the way to 18! We started running classes in 2018 and since then now have a school of 70 children attending our classes each week.
Our Early Stages classes are for our 4-6 year olds and are a 90 minute class that involve half an hour each of singing, drama and dance. We use these early years classes to build confidence, learn new skills and have lots of fun!
Our main school classes are 3 hours and take the jump up to an hour of each discipline! We take children from 6-18 years old for these classes, and pride ourselves on adapting to any age or experience level. We aim for our students to learn a lot in an environment where they feel comfortable, safe and supported!
Our teachers are both massively experienced in teaching (some of them have been with Stagecoach for almost 20 years!) but are also industry professionals, who can be seen performing all over the country. We love that they can bring their teaching skills as well as their real-life performing experiences in to our classrooms. Our students also love getting to see their teachers perform onstage
All our classes involve lots of performances for parents to come and see. As well as our yearly musical, and Extravaganza performances we also offer lots of other amazing opportunities. This past year our students have performed on the West End at the Shaftesbury Theatre, performed at Disney in front of the castle and in the parade, and performed onstage with G4 at the Usher Hall! Not only that but our students have just filmed professional music videos which we premiered at Edinburgh’s Dominion Cinema!
As well as this we also provide performing exams that our students can elect to take part in. Twice yearly children are offered our LAMDA exams, where we provide one-on-one coaching to our students in order to sit their solo, spoken word exams. As well as with we work with PAA (Performance Arts Awards) to sit group Musical Theatre exams, using the skills learned in class. We are proud of our 100% pass rate in these exams over our time running them, and love that our students can walk away with these fantastic, transferable skills (which can also be used for UCAS points!).
Principal Hannah is so delighted to work with such a fantastic team and to get to see the faces of her ever-expanding school (now at almost 190 students over her 3 schools) coming along each week with big smiles on their faces! She gets such lovely feedback each and every week about how much we have improved their confidence, given them amazing opportunities and made each grown-up (and our teachers) super proud of them every term!
