Visit the Edinburgh neighbourhood of Stockbridge this Saturday 1st December, as our charming part of town which has all the feel of a little village that’s been dropped into the middle of a city launches Stockbridge Christmas. From Santa Parades to Charity Festivals, School Fairs, Carol Singing and Tree Lighting there’s so much going on. And coinciding with Small Business Saturday which celebrates our wonderful independent businesses, Stockbridge Traders Association will once again be running their much loved annual ‘Stockbridge Stocking’ event.

The day starts with the Edinburgh Christmas Santa Parade leaving from Jubilee Gardens at 10am. Santa and his reindeer, escorted by some of his many elves and led by the Stockbridge Pipe Band will journey through the heart of Stockbridge, down Deanhaugh Street and along Raeburn Place on their way to the annual Edinburgh Christmas Charity Festival in Inverleith Park. Then volunteers from the Stockbridge Traders Association chosen local charity, LifeCare, will be working their way around Stockbridge with two huge Stockings, bursting with absolutely fabulous lucky dip prizes donated by some of our wonderful local businesses. There will be a wide range of exciting prizes on offer from many of your favourite local shops – why not chance your luck to see what you might win. Hampers, beauty treatments, food, drink, art, gift vouchers – the list is endless . Tickets cost £1 and all money raised will go directly to LifeCare based at Stockbridge House on Cheyne Street.

The children at Stockbridge Primary School were asked to design Christmas posters in the lead up to Christmas in Stockbridge and the Stockbridge Traders Association are excited to announce that the artist of the winning poster will have the honour of switching on the Stockbridge Christmas Tree lights. All of the wonderful posters created by the children will be on display in the window of No7 Raeburn Place throughout the holiday season.

The whole community is invited to come along to Jubilee Gardens at 3pm to join in with carol singing from the Stockbridge Primary School where mince pies, mulled wine and soft drinks will be available courtesy of the Stockbridge Traders Association. Enjoy the festive atmosphere before the Stockbridge Christmas tree lights are switched on for all at 3.30pm.

But the day is still not over as you’re asked to join the Stockbridge Primary School at their annual Christmas Fair hosted by the Stockbridge Primary Parent Council from 3.30pm – 6pm. Tickets on the door: £5 children (includes a visit to Santa’s Grotto, festive crafts, mini face paint or glitter tattoo, juice and a biscuit.), £2.50 adults (Includes hot drink and a mince pie), under 3’s free.
