Started by local woman Susie Gregor 28 years ago the annual Stockbridge Duck Race has become the biggest community event in Stockbridge and one of the most recognised in Edinburgh. Thanks to the generosity of duck buyers and the local business community the race has raised thousands of pounds for charity. The chosen charities for 2017 are The Yard and St. Columba’s Hospice.
The Yard runs adventure play services for disabled children, young people and their families. They offer disabled children and their siblings the chance to experience creative, adventurous indoor and outdoor play in a well-supported environment. St Columba’s Hospice strives to ensure everyone within our community has access to excellent palliative care whoever they are, wherever they are and whenever they need it.
Stockbridge Duck Race 2017
This years Stockbridge Duck Race is on Sunday 2 July 2017 at 3pm. The 2017 little yellow plastic bath ducks will be launched from Stockbridge and race to Falshaw Bridge, the Duck Wardens will be on duty making sure they all reach their destination safely and shouting out those winning numbers.
Businesses are donating lots of prizes again this year well over 100 were donated last year so the odds of winning anything from a meal for two at a local restaurant or a visit to the hairdressers are pretty good. If you would like to donate a prize please contact stevimanning@yahoo.co.uk
