Writing for Wellbeing comes to Stockbridge Library, hosted by Louise Fellows of True Leaves. Have you ever noticed that writing things down can help you to feel calmer? Perhaps as a teenager, your diary was a safe place for all your secrets and worries, or maybe writing lists makes you feel more in control.
Research has shown that all kinds of writing – especially with a pen and paper – can help us to feel happier and healthier. It gives us a chance to express ourselves without worrying about the consequences! Unfortunately, most of us lead busy lives and can’t find the time or inspiration to simply sit down and write.
That’s why, from this Friday (17th June), Stockbridge Library will be hosting a “Writing for Wellbeing” course, giving you the chance to set some time aside for yourself.
Qualified Writing for Wellbeing facilitator, Louise Fellows, studied English Literature at the University of Edinburgh, but now takes a calm and gentle approach to writing. She says:
“You don’t have to be a writer in order to write well, and it certainly doesn’t matter whether you were good at writing at school. I encourage everyone to leave all their worries about spelling and grammar at the door, and learn how to really enjoy writing. Often, that’s how the most interesting writing comes about.
I provide warm-ups and inspiration to help get you started, and I’ll provide the tea and coffee too – all you need is a pen and paper!”
The library is a bright and peaceful setting to spend your Friday morning, and literary inspiration will always be on hand. The writing sessions run from 11:00 to 12:45, and cost £10 per session or £50 for 6 weeks.
If you feel like exercising your body as well as your mind, Louise will also be offering Pilates classes at 10am! Contact Louise@trueleaves.org for more information and to book your place.
True Leaves was established in 2014, by Creative Writing Practitioner, Louise Fellows.
